When I’m editing down several thousand wedding images I go offline and don’t check any emails, facebook or twitter (I do answer phone calls, if you have something important ;-) I try to concentrate on editing and reduce any distraction.
It’s always good to break the rules and do exceptions so I just wanted to post quickly my favorite image of Janice’s & Andreas’ wedding last Saturday.
Ingredients: beautiful bride, awesome dress and some kickin’ sunlight.
Another baby session I photographed recently was of Felix and Niklaus. While Felix was not too much convinced of what the photographer was doing, Niklaus had a bit more fun his images taken :-) Thanks for posing (more or less ;-) for me, Felix and Niklaus!
The weather forecast was to be rainy in this part of Switzerland, but luckily they were wrong this time. So after the meeting to discuss the final details of Janice’s and Andreas’ wedding we still had enough time to hang around the awesome hotel in Bad Ragaz and shoot their engagement session. And hey, believe it or not, the town of Bad Ragaz was originally founded by Andreas’ great-great-grandfather! Isn’t it great to get married in such a historic place? Can’t wait for your wedding, Janice and Andreas!
If you like to photograph babies you have to accustom to their time schedule. If they are in a good mood early in the morning, you have to get up early to take the best shots. If they want to sleep, you wait. If they want to eat, you wait. The good thing: There is no stress. You take what you get. You just have to be flexible and see what happens.
Today I was very lucky. Not only because I could photograph this baby session in my city, but especially because Lea was such a great model! Exploring everything new (the photographer and his camera) with her beautiful, big eyes. Being already 6 months old she was quite active. Moving a lot, turning from one side to the other. A challenge for a photographer. But she did great and only did get tired after 2 hours of taking pictures! Wow, I guess at the end I was more exhausted than her :-)

As you might know I am a paraglider pilot. Since I am a child I was always fascinated by flying. When I was 16 years old I took several lessons with an instructor in a little airplane. Well, actually I was able to fly before I was able to drive a car :-)
I live in Switzerland and was always fascinated by the mountains. And paragliding seemed to be the best way to fly, the ultimate combination. You’re in the mountains, sitting in a flowery meadow, breathing fresh air. The sky is blue, the sun is shining and you hear the bells of the cows (yes, the cows have bells in Switzerland). And when you enjoyed it enough, you take your little airplane from your rucksack and fly down, silently, just the birds and the wind accompanies you. Wow.
With the paraglider you don’t jump from the mountains. You take off. Like a plane. Base jumpers, they jump. And they are very common near the place where I live. The Lauterbrunnen Wall in the Bernese Oberland is world-famous. Not only because it inspired Tolkien when he wrote “The Lord of the Rings”. Because the mountains are so steep in this U-shaped valley it is the perfect place for base jumping. Every year several base jumpers from other countries die in an accident. The authorities are discussing if they should forbid base jumping in the valley, but as they know they would do it anyway they decided not to do it.
I have seen many base jumps but nothing like this. This is really sick!
